Violet's Pink Ribbon

In light of Miss V's most recent post and at the suggestion of Melissa, one of our fabulous listeners, I contacted Lisa Souza last night and asked her if she might be willling to partner with us again on a new colorway. Well, Lisa not only does wonderful work but she does it at lightening speed! Today she came up with a new colorway that she has named Violet's Pink Ribbon.

It is currently available in her Sock! Merino and Supersport yarns, with a portion of the sales going directly to Violet's medical fund to help cover her 1k deductible and any other medical expenses that accrue as a result of the lump in her breast.

If you do not find this colorway listed on Lisa Souza's site (at the time of this post, it does not appear to be up yet), you can email her to indicate which of the two types of yarn you would like and how many skeins (see the email link on her main website).

Words can't really express what Violet and I are feeling right now. In light of bad news, we are truly blessed to have the opportunity and privilege to work with Lisa and to have the support of all of you wonderful listeners out there. Thank you to everyone who has left a comment for V recently. We will keep ya'll posted as she finds out more. And just in case you missed the link to Lisa's website, here it is again:

Lisa Souza

Hugs, cookies, and yarny goodness,
Miss Lime

ADDENDUM: V and I made an executive decision last night to allocate any donations that come in via our donation button to her medical fund. I just forgot to mention it above. So if you want to make a contribution but can't purchase more yarn, please feel free to use our donation button (see right-hand column on our main blog page). Thanks again for all of your good thoughts and support.

Yup, it went live just a bit ago. Holly has also donated her normal fee for setting it up. Yay, Holly. It is up on Sock! as well and you can pre-order it, as Jenny did, for the time that my yarn dude coughs up that first 100 pounds of cones. Orders are coming in, girls. What did I tell you, V?

I bought several, one for my mom who is a breast cancer survivor. FUCK CANCER! (excuse my language, it's rather rude).

On the plus side, you will be fine, Violet. And thanks to Lisa, you won't have to worry about that fracking deductible.

Keep us updated!

I'm on a yarn diet, but would love to send some support. Can I suggest that either your podcast donation button be overthrown for the next lil' while on Miss V's behalf, or a second donation button be popped in? (or post an email address that we can toss PayPal funds at?)

Kudos to Lisa Souza, though, for being so damn quick to lend a hand :)

I actually thought about getting some of that pink yarn for myself and writing a boobie sock pattern.

Oh, but seriously.

Can't you just see it? Little bobbleboobs all around the cuff?

I may just have to go do that right now. Hmm.

I'm going to beg some yarn money off someone and buy that beautiful yarn. My heart goes out to you Miss V. Take care and if worst comes to worst, there's always hallowig, knit it in all colors. :D

This was the perfect push to get me to try Lisa's stuff. I literally swore last night that I wouldn't buy yarn for a while (just bought a wheel) but for this I can break a promise. Stay well -I know I would miss the laughter.

Best wishes and good thoughts for Miss Violet. I admit I don't think I can honestly fit one more skein of yarn in this house but I will be hitting that donation button!

Whoo Hoo! A very noble reason for my first ever Lisa Souza purchase! Thanks in part to you two that bring so much knitting fun into my stepped-out-of-my-life to be stay-at -home-mom life, I'm imaging using it for my first knitting project. (shhhh, I'm a lurking crocheter...) If I can manage to keep my hands off of it, that is....

It's good to be able to give something back. Miss V, I seriously hope they end up laughing at la lumpa. Last year I had my OB/GYN in a tizzy one afternoon, and when he finally got his hands on my own gut wrenching lumpa he literally laughed in relief. Seriously hoping that's the case for you. There's nothing worse than not knowing.

Hugs to you V!

Not to short Liza S. (mainly because I am sure that I will order some Pink Ribbon soon) but just in case the money is needed sooner, I'd suggest donating right to Miss V. Each of us has someone who has had this scare or horror story (in my case, my sister in law) and it sucks. Our prayers and good thoughts are with you. My socks can wait but she can't.

I bought some AND it gave me the kick in the ass I needed to get some Berry Poppins too!

Hugs to you, Miss V!

You guys are amazing. I send lots of love and prayers to Miss V (to share with Miss L, of course). I'm definately going to have to make a Lisa Souza purchase soon. I can make my first pair of socks with it and give them to my mom who is a breast cancer survivor.

I surfed my way onto your blog for the first time - and had to share. Don't look at statistics, be your own health advocate and read, read, read, and know that it can seem very bad - and yet you can come through it. Only 10% of all bc cases happen to women under 40, and because most don't get mammograms until they're 40, when it's detected it's far along. And it seems at that age, it tends to be very aggressive. I'm not sure if you're younger or not, but according to the prognosticators, I shouldn't be here still - and I am. Find others going through what you're going through - because if you need to draw on your eyebrows, you'll want someone to laugh with when one eyebrow's too low, and the other too high :) Hang in there, and take charge.

I just got a Paypal account and had been wondering what yarn to get as a treat. I think I've found it.

Will be sending hopes and prayers to you, Miss V., with every stitch.

I bought the yarn. Like many other listeners my mother is a breast cancer survivor, now her sister has it so as the only female in my generation There are 4 in the next & already 1 in the following) I'm waiting for genetic counselling to see if I have a predisposition. This frightens me for my 22 year old daughter & 15 month granddaughter. Stay strong Miss V.

I just bought a skein...The colorway is beautiful. Hang in there Miss Violet! You and Miss Lime always make me laugh and smile after a long week at work..

I forget what issue it was in but Knitty published a boobie scarf pattern and there are lots of patterns floating around the internet for a boobie pillow.

I listened to the first half of the latest podcast on the bus this morning, and I want to send lots of *hugs* to Violet! I'm hoping for something benign! Cancer is *scary*. :( My aunt had breast cancer, and supposedly had it beat, but then it came back and metastasized... she didn't survive that. :( However, on average, people are doing *lots* better these days, so make sure you're one of them!!!

At 1:50 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hugs and good wishes for everything to be fine. My sister is going through the same thing right now. She's getting ready to schedule a biopsy.

I love listening to your podcast.

I had a scare like that too and had to wait through a weekend to see a doctor. I can't imagine what you are going through having to wait so long. Mine was a cyst and easily removed. I'm wishing the same for you. It was painless.

At 1:40 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I just came back from vacation and heard the news...good luck V, hope it's a harmless cyst or something.

I've ordered my yarn, made a donation but these are both nothing compared to the strong, positive thoughts from all your listeners.

*big massive snuggle hug to Miss V* *and one to Miss L too - for moral support*
I know you'll be able to kick it's butt Vi - whatever it is - you've got such vitality and life in you, such charisma, strength and va-va-voom!! Nothing can stop you chica :) But it can certainly bum you out, so many many hugs your way, and donations and happy warm fuzzy thoughts too. I was so super stoked to see your next ep downloading on my itunes - as that means you've got spirit with you and you're trucking on and not letting it bring you down. You're AWESOME and we love you!! Take care and breath nice deep breathes :)

I was diagnosed 17 years ago with the lupus that killed my mom's cousin at 20-something. Laughter and love are by far the best medicines, and knitting for others is a perfect way to create both. I've finished my first Miss Violet Pink Ribbon lace scarf, and it's going to a single mom fighting breast cancer--that way, she can borrow a little of all the good vibes everyone's sending to you and to all breast cancer patients with this yarn. We're all in this life together.

Lisa Souza ROCKS

Many prayers and love coming your way - much experience with cancer survivors and the support they need - (3 family members currently undergoing treatment, 1 who passed away in 2003)

Thank you.

Hey, I have cancer, too. Just not Breast Cancer. There are copay and deductable relief funds and all sorts of funding available, you should ask your oncologist's office.

Hey Violet,

I am a breast cancer survivor also an ovarian cancer survivor. Diagnosed with BC at 39 OC at 41. On dec 22 instead of two front teeth I got two new boobs. 98% of the fight is in your head. If you know it won't beat you; it can't. Tell dennis (little d on purpose) you have a big awesome life to lead. Get through this bump (I hope it is not cancer) and get on with your life. Read about me on my blog site www.knitkharma.com Violet represents to me the presence of God. Know that He is always with you.
