Episode #9: Oh, Canada!
This week, Lime and Violet talk about allergy medicine hangovers, interpretive dance, Canadian dimples...umm...urrr...mounties, and of course, yarn. In this particular episode, the girls deviate slightly from their yarn obsession to talk about the wonderful world of artyarns. The intro music is a song by the name of "Everyone Here is Mad" and the closing is "The Fun Song", both from the boys at Chub Creek. All music you hear on the Lime & Violet podcast can be found at the Podsafe Music Network.
This week's works-in-progress aren't much different from last week's. Miss Lime is still working on her Baudelaires for the Baudelaire KAL and trying frantically to finish up her French Market bag. She is being distracted from both of these though due to the strong urge to design more original socks. Miss Violet has finished her French Market bag, is still purling in insane amounts on her Simple Knitted Bodice (for which there is also a KAL), and has once again picked up her RPM socks. Lime was bad and bought some more KnitPicks yarn, some of their new Telemark, and has plans to start working on Marilyn's Not-So-Shrunken Cardigan from The Garter Belt website. Seriously, the buying has got to stop!
The girls have a ton of new yarn porn this week, and it's all about artyarns! The sites include Midnight Sky Fibers, Oh My Designs, Whirlwind Handspuns, Pippy Kneesocks, Spin to Knit, Studioloo, Yarn Wench, and last but certainly not least, Plucky Fluff. Lime & Violet also recount one listener's unfortunate experience at Cottage Knits in Columbus, IN.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Dave from Chub Creek for having the cutest dimples in the galaxy and for providing the new show intro. We also want to thank all of our listeners out there, those who post on the blog, those who visit the message boards, and those who just sit back and enjoy the show.
Thanks for tuning in this week!

Looooooooved it, as always.
Seriously, I just want to pinch Dave's cheeks, but I'm married, and he's just not so interested in the married women loving the dimples. I guess I can understand that- it's like having your aunt tell you what a handsome little man you are. So I'll live vicariously through Lime's exploits, and hey- I'm only a couple of hours from Toronto, so I'll meetcha there for yarn shopping if the dimples disappoint!
P.S. I'm pretty sure there's a full face Dave on the Dink Dolls website.
P.P.S. Is it wrong that I almost typed "full frontal Dave?"
dude, for THAT....*I* would even pay a dollar to see.
:) :) :)
I'm so glad my husband doesn't read this...
L&V! :) I'm curious about the shoes-for-handknit-socks topic. I bought two different pairs of Mary Janes for my socks, but I haven't worn them WITH my handknit socks yet.... :) but they show off more than my other shoes. :)
hhaa.. my word verification is lovdrg.
LOVElovelove the new into! Thanks Dave!
come on boots, start walkin'.
as for the crazy rubbing off, you're too late.
looking at more than yarn? WTF? where is this store, so i can get dressed as funky as i can, and weird her out as well? what a bitch! talk about profiling! oooooooo ok, i just heard where it is, i'll be visiting, lol.
as for the art yarns, i think they're cool. the super-coiled yarns i saw on knitty were cool. those people who get stuck on the "perfect perfect" don't know what they're missing.
and i really need to get around to the message board
I hate you- you make me want to spend my money! I am only a poor college girl. I could get my roommate to lend me $55, right? Right?
Excellent episode, as usual. I was kind of late on listening to it, but I just moved into my dorm so... too bad? idk. Get well soon! chlorinebeach@gmail.com
Okay, so I'm a little behind on the whole Lime and Violet thing, so I just listened to this episode. I wanted to comment on the Cottage Knits thing. There's a yarn store near me (it's called Knit 'n' Purl in Rochester, NY and I don't care who knows I hate them) that's run by rude bitches, too. Apparently, 19 year old girls with bandanas and nose and eyebrow piercings are not worth helping. Crazy, isn't it? I mean, I know of at least three other yarn stores just in Rochester, so it's not like you can just be a bitch and keep your customer base. I just don't get how people who get to fondle yarn all day can be so mean! :'(
I was apalled at how your friend was treated at Cottage Knits - bad yarn store owner. For the record, I'm a probation/ parole agent and I have met ONE criminal who knits:)
Lovin the show - thanks!
